DOES GLITZ! OFFER LAYAWAY?
GLITZ! offers layaway on full price gowns. We take half the cost as down payment, with the other half due in 30 days. There is also a $5 storage fee.
Layaway is not offered online, so please visit our store at Mall of America, third floor, near Nordstrom.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SHOP?
If you have the option of shopping weekdays, there will be less clients in the store. If you love the bustle and high energy of a crazy Saturday, by all means, join us then. Either way, you will get our full attention.
ALSO, we strongly encourage you to shop as early in the year as possible. Gowns begin to become unavailable for special orders as early as February. We do not want to disappoint you.
At GLITZ!, we take delivery of our beautiful designer gowns earlier than most stores. You can see a complete selection as early as January, with some gowns arriving by November.
DO YOU TAKE SPECIAL ORDERS?
Our gowns arrive daily from November through season, and we encourage you to take your dress with you when you leave GLITZ! If you prefer to custom order a gown, please allow 2 to 12 weeks.
WHAT SIZES DO YOU CARRY?
We carry gowns from 00 to 18. Larger sizes can be special ordered.
WHAT SIZE GOWN SHOULD I ORDER?
Prom apparel is sized differently from most department store dresses and it is not uncommon to need one or more sizes larger than you would normally wear. Please come into GLITZ! and try on gowns; or carefully review each designers size chart and order accordingly. If there is a decision on a borderline size, we recommend going up one size as it is easier to tailor down a size.
HOW DO I MEASURE MY SIZE?
You need to measure your bust, waist and hip and compare to the correct designer’s size chart. These measurements should be taken while wearing appropriate undergarments. We recommend you have your measurements taken professionally. Otherwise, have a friend measure the biggest part of your bust, the smallest part of your waist (typically two inches about your navel) and the biggest part of your hip (buttocks). Do not pull on the measuring tape. Compare your measurements to the size chart of the appropriate designer. Remember, factory measurements are approximate. AS gowns are not custom made, you need to order to fit the largest part of your body. Sizes cannot be changed once an order is placed.
DO YOU OFFER SHIPPING?
We will ship your gown for $19.95 anywhere in the continental US. It usually takes 5-7 business days to arrive for gowns that are currently in stock (up to 12 weeks for gowns that need to be produced). If you would like upgraded shipping, or shipping to Alaska or Hawaii, it is available at an additional charge. Please call 952-854-5257 for rates. We cannot ship internationally.
HOW DO I KNOW THE TRUE COLOR OF A GOWN?
The color of online images may vary due to display and monitor settings. They also vary from designer to designer, even if the color is named the same. We cannot be liable for a mistaken color selection as all sales are final.
DO YOU OFFER ALTERATIONS IN THE STORE?
We do not offer alterations or quote alteration costs. We do have a magnificent seamstress that can meet you in our store on weekdays. Please call if you would like her contact information.
IS THERE A DANGER TO BUYING ON THE INTERNET?
We recommend purchasing on the internet only from a brick and mortar store like GLITZ! We are hearing more and more horror stories of girls that have purchased online and find the gown was NOT as represented. Online retailers use photos from credible designers but they are not supplying the actual designer dress.
ALL established retailers will tell you the same thing. DO NOT take a chance with this important purchase.
HOW CAN MY SCHOOL HAVE A FASHION SHOW?
Call the store and ask for a manager. We would love to bring our beautiful gowns to your special event!!
